Halloween in Melbourne keeps getting bigger, and this year it lands on a Saturday. That means a long night, a busy city and plenty of reasons to make plans early. If you want your Halloween to end somewhere with a bit more glamour than a crowded pub, The Men's Gallery at 601 Lonsdale St is open from 6pm until 8am.
It is also Derby Day, so the CBD will be full of racegoers as well as costumes. Here is what you need to know.
What's on at TMG
On Saturday 31 October, The Men's Gallery hosts a Halloween costume party. The venue will be decorated for the night, and the girls will be in costume, bringing a little mischief to the stage all night.
Costumes are welcome but never required. Come as you are, within our dress code, and let the room do the rest. Hours, entry and pricing are the same as any other Saturday.

Planning your Halloween party night in Melbourne
Halloween in the Melbourne CBD is one of the busiest nights of the spring calendar, and this year the city is sharing it with Derby Day. A little planning goes a long way.
Start with a plan, not a pub crawl. Pick where you want to finish the night, then work backwards. It saves hours of queues and group chats.
Function bookings. Saturday nights fill quickly, and Halloween with Derby Day is busier again. Groups can book a function package ahead; everyone else can just walk in.
Dress the part, within the rules. Keep it clever and stylish rather than bulky. Masks and props are held at reception, and face paint and face coverings are not allowed.
Keep your ID on you. Whatever you are dressed as, you will need photo ID to get in.
Plan your ride home. With two big events on the same night, transport will be in demand. Sort out your trip home before the night starts.
Groups and functions
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which makes it a natural night for bucks parties, birthdays and group nights out. With Derby Day crowds in the city as well, it pays to book ahead.
Our functions team can help you plan a night that suits your group, from a small crew to a bigger celebration. Tell us your date, group size and the kind of night you have in mind, and we will take it from there.
Make your enquiry through our Bucks and Functions page.
A tip for Halloween groups: if you dress up, keep it smart and simple. You will spend less time at the door and more time enjoying the night.
